Quarrying is valuable to society because its products are used to build roads, buildings, and other infrastructures that people depend on. The condition or environment and safety in the workplace especially in quarry industries should always pay attention to avoid any injuries, accidents, or any conflicts which at least reduces the seriousness of the conflict. The purpose of this study is to improve the workflow of the production in the company. Also aimed to study the workflow of production and analyzes the safety issue regarding the workplace. This study focused on the improvement of the factory design in XYZ Quarry product Sdn. Bhd related with safety. The improvement of layout involved the minimization of transportation cost, the relevant distance and time need is 3360 tons per day, and relocated the structure of the production process. The results are also concerned with improving safety in the workplace. In addition, the improvement of layout can reduce the cost of production. Besides, the safety improvement can help to reduce the medical cost for workers’ health care and improve the well-being of the workers

Carbon footprint of 3D-printed bone tissue engineering scaffolds: an life cycle assessment study

    Get PDF
The bone tissue engineering scaffolds is one of the methods for repairing bone defects caused by various factors. According to modern tissue engineering technology, three-dimensional (3D) printing technology for bone tissue engineering provides a temporary basis for the creation of biological replacements. Through the generated 3D bone tissue engineering scaffolds from previous studies, the assessment to evaluate the environmental impact has shown less attention in research. Therefore, this paper is aimed to propose the Model of life cycle assessment (LCA) for 3D bone tissue engineering scaffolds of 3D gel-printing technology and presented the analysis technique of LCA from cradle-to-gate for assessing the environmental impacts of carbon footprint. Acrylamide (C3H5NO), citric acid (C6H8O7), N,N-Dimethylaminopropyl acrylamide (C8H16N2O), deionized water (H2O), and 2-Hydroxyethyl acrylate (C5H8O3) was selected as the material resources. Meanwhile, the 3D gel-printing technology was used as the manufacturing processes in the system boundary. The analysis is based on the LCA Model through the application of GaBi software. The environmental impact was assessed in the 3D gel-printing technology and it was obtained that the system shows the environmental impact of global warming potential (GWP). All of the emissions contributed to GWP have been identified such as emissions to air, freshwater, seawater, and industrial soil. The aggregation of GWP result in the stage of manufacturing process for input and output data contributed 47.6% and 32.5% respectively. Hence, the data analysis of the results is expected to use for improving the performance at the material and manufacturing process of the product life cycle

Palm oil is very important in the agricultural and economic sectors in Malaysia. It’s origin is in the tropical rain forest region of West Africa, which the main belt runs through the southern latitudes of Cameron, Cote D’ ivoire, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierria Leone, Togo and into the equatorial region of Angola and the Congo (FAO,2004). The crude palm oil have a very wide range of application which is about 80% of the crude palm oil (CPO) produced can be converted into food products while the others can be used as non-food applications. The by-products or wasted product of palm oil fruit processing such as empty bunches and fibers can be processed as raw materials for potash fertilizer, pulp and paper manufacturing. The shell fragments can be used as renewable energy as fuels and also for decoration of living apartments
